Slides, layouts, and notes are separate parts

A .pptx is a ZIP archive in which each slide is its own XML file, backed by layouts and masters, with media in ppt/media/. Speaker notes live in a parallel set of files under ppt/notesSlides/. That separation matters because tools and people tend to review the slides and forget the notes.

Speaker notes are the most commonly forgotten leak

Notes are full text, they are invisible in presentation view, and they are frequently where the candid version of the message gets written — pricing floors, internal caveats, who to avoid mentioning. Before a deck goes outside the organisation, read the notes as carefully as the slides.

Off-canvas and hidden content

A shape dragged just off the edge of the slide is still in the file, as is a slide marked hidden and any earlier version of a chart left behind under a newer one. None of it renders in a presentation and all of it is readable by anyone who opens the file.

Extracting rather than screenshotting

When you need an image, a chart, or the text out of a deck, pulling it from the package gives you the original asset at full resolution instead of a screenshot. The same applies to text: extraction preserves the words for search, translation, or reuse.

FAQ

Do these tools remove speaker notes?

Notes are handled as comments-and-notes content rather than as slide text. Check the scan report to see what was found before deciding what to remove.

Can I extract slide images at full quality?

Yes. Images are stored in the package at the resolution they were inserted, so extracting them gives you the original file rather than a re-compressed copy.

Does removing a slide renumber the rest?

Yes. Remaining slides close up and are renumbered in order, exactly as they would be in PowerPoint.

Are .ppt files supported?

No. The older binary .ppt format is structured differently. Re-save it as .pptx in PowerPoint first.
