Choosing the right merge tool
Merging is not the same operation for every format, which is why these are separate tools rather than one. PDFs are joined page by page. CSV and TSV files are stacked as rows with a single header kept from the first file. YAML files are joined as a multi-document stream separated by document markers so nothing collides. JSON is combined structurally rather than by concatenating text.
Pick the tool that matches your format so the result still parses. Merging same-schema exports — monthly CSV reports, split log files, a set of config fragments — is the common case, and file order is preserved as you arrange it.
